Luxor in Atlanta 2018 – Exciting!

There are so many dancers from around the globe that flocked to Egypt to learn the art of Raqs Sharqi. They bring what they learn back to their communities and build a fan base that usually reaches back into the culture to pull even more knowledge out to share with their friends and family. This has been one of many ways the art has spread. One of those stars that is big on the circuit is Luxor. He showcases The Luxor Show. It’s a powerful production where the star proves his expertise in really strong moves that you can feel way down deep. Luxor is an experience. See this great video from Oasis Festival.

We’re excited that he will be coming to Atlanta in 2018. To usher in his welcome we’ll be highlighting the history of raqs worldwide and how global communities have embraced this dance. Join us every month as we visit Raqs Around the World. You can also sign up to attend events, including his, which we are promoting. Be sure to subscribe and we’ll help keep you in the know.

Warm Up with MissBellydance.com

Warming up before a dance class is extremely important. Especially during these cooler parts of the year. We’d like to remind you to not take chances on your health. Use legwarmers, wear longer warmer workout wear and be sure to wrap up well as you head out in your costumes. We have velvet Thobes with a dynamic print that you can wear over your bedluhs and beladi dresses. You can also wear these great modern thobes with the hood during the day when it’s slighty warmer and the sun is out.

Legwarmers are important as well. Use these in class and keep them on until you’re done. You may even want to wear them when you get back in a cold car after dancing up a sweat. Going back and forth from cold to hot can jar your system. We’re not doctors and this isn’t official medical advice but instead tips that have worked for us over the years.

Let us know how you’re doing in your classes and progress in the art. If you’re headed out to a raqs conference or a show let us know! We happily support our fans and encourage lifelong learning.

Flamenco and Raqs Sharqi – Relatives in the Art

The history of Flamenco dance is so vast. Most historically conscious dancers know that this art has its origins in India and if you watch movies like Gypsy Caravan (the documentary film) or read/study with Aunty Rocky (Morocco) both can give you some really amazing insight to this art and its background. Many bellydancers love to borrow from this particular dance. It is not wrong but there is a respectful way to do that. We’d like to again, remind our readers that we are sponsors of the Flamenco Arabe Dance Seminar coming up in less than 6 months. This workshop will allow you to learn the roots of Flamenco technique, ask questions and get a better understanding of how it can be fused without confusing your audience.

We do want everyone to take some time to look at the great artists of this era via video. Who are your favourites past and present? Let us know your thoughts. Two interested fans will be entered into a drawing to win two skirts that are perfect for this workshop. Just respond in the comments section or leave us a note on Facebook.
Can’t wait to see everyone there! Again, you can register here.

Perfect Pants for Practical Dancers

cs309-6tSo you’re not the one who wears their favourite skirt to class. You don’t jazz up your outfits with swirling ruffles. You’re the practical dancer who just wants a comfy pair of pants. For you, class isn’t the time for a party, it’s a time to practice. We hear you…we get it. Can’t dress up all the time…but you still want to look and feel good.

cs309-4t

It also doesn’t mean you have to look plain. We’ve got the best pairs of practical pants and comfortable classwear you find and you can still afford to go out afterwards with your dancemates for some tea.

All of these and more are available here. If you don’t see your size, we’ll custom make something for you to your liking based on the availability of the fabric and get you, the practical dancer on your feet feeling fine. Be sure to hang out with us on social for updates, specials and discounts…see you there with pants on!

Contact us directly if you have any questions.
